About

The founder of Swallowtail Studio, Ruth Galloway, has been a full time professional artist and illustrator for over 30 years.

In 1998, she began designing greeting cards, and magazine editorial illustrations, this was followed by a succession of award winning picture books written and illustrated by Ruth. She has sold millions of copies worldwide and is an established and well-regarded name in this field. As her children got older, she became interested in ceramics, working for the Douglas Watson studio for 10 years as an Artist and Lead Designer. 

Combined with her passion for ceramics and interior decoration, Ruth has returned to her first love of painting beautiful botanicals, birds and animals, and bringing the world of nature into people's homes. She enjoys historical styles, including traditional Dutch Delft, Chinoiserie, botanical illustration and porcelain painting, and these are often referenced in her work.

Tile process

Swallowtail Studio tiles are designed in the UK with designs applied by hand in Stoke on Trent. The lead time for these is approximately 6 weeks.
